Robert 'Hubi' Hofmann (born June 29, 1986 in Straubing) is a professional bassist and music producer from Abensberg, Germany.
After autodidactically learning to play the bass in 2003 and his first live shows in 2004 guesting for other bands (The Prosecution), he founded his first own band Metal Raign in 2005. This year also saw his first studio productions with Afraid Of Sheep (together with his brother Michael Air Hofmann and Valentin Damjantschitsch) and Stahlhelmverbot (legendary Deutschpunk band from the 80s). At the same time he joined Road Crew with guitarist Andy Kneitinger and singer Philipp Janoske, with whom he and his brother would later found Radio Haze (releasing 5 LPs, 5 EPs, and touring with ZZ Top, Uriah Heep, Ten Years After, Nazareth, Graveyard, and many more) in 2007.
2006-2009 he studied at Bass School Munich graduating with diploma as live & studio bassist. During those years he also joined GumoManiacs (releasing 7 LPs, playing 2 headliner tours in Mexico, and lots of shows in Europe supporting Sepultura, Blaze Bayley, and Anvil among others) and started his own studio and DIY record label Hate 206045 Records.
The next years from 2009-2012 found him studying at Music College Regensburg graduating as certified music educator, as well as working as assistant engineer and studio bassist for drummer/producer Stephan Ebn, and participating in productions for TV/Cinema by Christoph Zirngibl, Helmut Zerlett, Andreas Weidinger, Boris Kunz, Konstantin Ferstl, and Detlef D! Soost among many others.
From his 2013/2014 Berklee College Of Music studies onward (graduating with a professional certificate in music production; with lessons by Jonathan Wyner, Alejandro Rodriguez, Marty Walsh, a.m.m.), he's been touring excessively with different Rock-, Metal-, but also Party-, Cover-, Wedding-, and Big-Bands, and working for the likes of Mass, Strike Master, AntiPeeWee, Eradicator, Space Chaser, The Platters, D'Hundskrippln, Donikkl, Rodscha & Tom, Ahmed Jahanzeb, 3 Dayz Whizkey, TG Copperfield, Bolzen Beer Band, Kytes, Cosby, All Will Know, Burden Of Life, Far From Finished, and Beehoover to name only a few.
Since 2017 he's been working mainly at his newly founded Slash Zero Records studio and label where he's been producing and releasing many more audiophile bands and artists. With over 700 shows played, over 100 albums, and even more singles released, he's now also calling himself an Apple Digital Masters certified mastering engineer after having finished his studies at Friedemann Tischmeyer's Mastering Academy in 2021.
