With his project “Illegal I”, German guitar player, singer and songwriter Andy Kneitinger unties himself from his 70s Rock roots and merges them with more recent influences such as Stoner and contemporary Alternative Rock. From melodic and smooth vocals to powerful shouts, from synth sounds and danceable grooves to catchy hard-rocking guitar riffs and sing-along choruses, his debut record “Illegal Eye” constitutes a compilation of 10 differing songs, which still manage to follow a common leitmotiv. The lyrics are mostly self-reflective and should be taken with a grain of salt. However, Andy Kneitinger doesn’t shy away from addressing more serious topics such as pretended ideals that cause a senseless and seemingly never-ending spiral of violence in the conflicts the world has to face these days.
All in all, “Illegal I” ties together the strings of Rock history and thus speaks to old-school Rock idealists and new-school Rock explorers alike.
